South Australia's the Kona Mawson MTB Marathon is a new gig running 8-12 June from Blinman to Melrose in South Australia. It’s a 350km marathon, which can be raced non-stop in a duo (starting the 11th June) or in 4 set stages solo or in teams (starting the 9th June).
A $30,000 prize pool is up for grabs, with non-stop teams from $4,000 first prize for all categories (men/women/mixed) and a $4,000 bonus for overall fastest time. Also $1,000 first prize for each category solo stage riders (men/women/mixed).
Plenty of Kona prizes, clothing and bike accessories can be won as well as additional spot prizes.
Also, the event will broadcast in a one-hour documentary to paid and free-to-air TV across the world; Sky NZ/ESPN Star/Supersports (South Africa)/ABC/etc.. so better give the camera man some good shots as you swoosh by!
All riders end in Melrose, just in time for the Fat Tyre Festival where more music, coldies, good chats and more fun-loving riders rise to MTB heaven!
